The Cairn of Circles:

This Cairn emerged from my near constant use of the Venn Diagram. Like everyone else, I was populating only the three circles, which I call the key drivers. One day I began exploring the interactions between these three key factors – spaces 4, 5, 6. After using this for awhile, I noticed that two key drivers and their interaction created an outcome, output, or skill – spaces 7, 8, 9. Finally, one day I saw the higher-order component of the Cairn that emerges from each key driver and contains two interactions and two outcomes – spaces 10, 11, 12. As always, context plays a huge role when using this Cairn.

This Cairn works when you:

• Want to clarify the mental model you are working from

• Are working with purpose, vision, mission, or goal setting

• Need to expand your thinking around a word, idea, belief, or concept
